Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan has declared an Indian High Commission official persona non grata, ordering him to leave the country within the next 24 hours. The move comes shortly after India issued a similar expulsion order against a Pakistani diplomat.
In a statement, Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the Indian official was involved in activities "incompatible with his diplomatic status." Following this, the Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned to the Ministry, where he was formally informed of the decision.
Earlier, the Indian government had declared a Pakistani High Commission official persona non grata and ordered him to leave India within 24 hours, summoning Pakistan's Deputy High Commissioner for a demarche.
In a separate development, the district administration of Muzaffarabad, located in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, has lifted its travel advisory for tourists in areas near the Line of Control (LoC). The advisory had been issued earlier due to rising tensions and potential security risks.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Muzaffarabad, the warning had been given to safeguard tourists from possible dangers in the LoC region. However, as the situation has improved and normal life has resumed, the restrictions have been removed.
The Deputy Commissioner confirmed that there are no longer any restrictions on tourist movements within Muzaffarabad and other districts in the region, and relevant authorities have been notified accordingly.
